Live, running blog of Indiana basketball vs Winthrop in the Hoosiers thirteenth game of the 2024-25 season.

Indiana basketball is set for one last non-conference matchup as they host Winthrop in Bloomington. Hoosiers are coming off a win over Chattanooga.

The Eagles enter the game with a record of 10-4 under fourth-year head coach Mark Prosser. Winthrop has three seniors score at least 13.5 points per game: forward Kelton Talford (14.9 points per game), forward K.J. Doucet (14.0), and guard Kasen Harrison (13.6).

The game will mark the return of former Hoosier Logan Duncomb.

Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM on BTN.

First half:

Indiana basketball loses the tip but we are off.

Winthrop scores first. Galloway answers.

Malik Reneau gets called for a goal tend. He answers with a bucket, however. Tied 4-4.

Myles Rice attacks the lane and gets a bucket. Indiana takes the lead. Rice then gets a steal and falls on the ground for the loose ball. Calls timeout. 30 seconds.

Mgbako gets in a post-up action but then finds Luke Goode for the three. Hoosiers 9-4.

Reneau gets called for his first foul. Looks like he got nailed in the face too.

Another strong drive for Myles Rice.

Winthrop turnover. Indiana leads 11-5 at the under-16 media timeout. 

Indiana basketball forced to burn another timeout. 15:57 mark too.

Galloway missed three but Reneau puts it back in.

Langdon Hatton checks for Reneau. Expect him to get some extended minutes tonight.

Winthrop cuts the lead to 13-12. 7-0 run for them.

Hatton gets the offensive rebound and gets fouled on the put-back. He goes 2-2 at the line.

Former Hoosier center Logan Duncomb checks in.

Bryson Tucker gets his first shot to drop.

Indiana basketball gets a stop and then Rice finds Tucker for the ally-oop slam. Indiana turns around and gets another stop.

Hatton gets his 4th offensive rebound.

Mgbako fouled and converts the shot.

Indiana basketballs leads 21-14 at the under-12 media timeout. 

Mgbako misses the free throw.

Leal checks in for Mgbako.

Reneau back in for Hatton.

Back-to-back threes from Winthrop. Indiana’s lead is only 23-22 now.

Reneau called for his 2nd foul. Hatton back in for him. Goode and Rice back in for Tucker and Galloway.

Indiana basketball forces a shot clock violation. Indiana leads 25-22 with 7:51 left in the first half. 

Pick-and-roll between Rice and Hatton to start us off here.

Rice speeds down the floor and gets another bucket.

Carlyle picks up his 2nd foul. Mgbako back in for him.

Galloway fouled. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Galloway finds Mgbako for a baseline cut and he slams it down.

Hatton picks up his first foul.

Rice gets another steal and finds Mgbako for the dunk but he could not convert. Ball went off Indiana basketball after the miss.

Hoosiers lead 34-28 with 3:10 left in the half. 

Winthrop scores out of the break. Logan Duncomb with the bucket.

They score another. Indiana only up 34-32.

Tucker gets a shot to drop plus the foul. He converts at the line.

Luke Goode fouled Logan Duncomb. He missed the front end of a 1-and-1. Rice speeds down the floor and he gets fouled. He goes 2-2.

Winthrop calls timeout with 34.4 left in the half.

Winthrop hit a three at the buzzer.

At the half: Indiana basketball 41, Winthrop 

Second Half

Indiana with the ball to start the half.

Malik Reneau fouled. He goes 2-2 at the line.

Galloway steal leads to nothing.

Winthrop hits their 5th three. Galloway gets a bucket but Reneau picks up his 3rd foul. Hatton back in.

Hatton picks up his 2nd foul.

A few plays later Hatton picked up his third foul.

Goode hits a baseline jumper out of an inbounds play.

Goode with a steal off a Winthrop inbounds and gets the shot plus the foul. Ballo runs off the bench to help him up.

Indiana basketball leads 53-47 with 15:15 left. 

Goode hits the free throw.

Carlyle in for Galloway. Winthrop on a 3:03 scoring drought.

Indiana now with a 2:24 scoring drought.

Hatton fouled. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Indiana basketball is shooting 6% from three. 1-of-16.

Hatton picks up his 4th foul. Reneau checks back in with 3 fouls.

Indiana basketball leads 55-51 with 11:34 left.

Reneau gets a bucket out of the break. Needed it.

Mgbako steal and little pass back-and-forth action from him and Galloway leads to Mgbako steal.

Galloway finds Tucker in transition for the reverse layup.

Carlyle picks up his third foul.

Winthrop has only hit 1 of their last 7 FGs. Hoosiers gaining momentum.

Indiana basketball leads 63-55 with 7:25 left. 

Reneau goes 0-2 at the line out of the break.

Reneau picks up his 4th foul. Hatton back in with 4 fouls as well.

Goode in for Tucker.

Indiana basketball is 1-of-19 from three right now. This is nuts.

Media timeout: Indiana basketball 67, Winthrop 58

Winthrop scores out of the break.

Mgbako cuts the baseline and Galloway finds him for an easy score.

Winthrop is 2-of-11 on FGs recently.

Reneau back in for Hatton.

Winthrop in a press. Indiana breaks out of it.

Indiana leads 69-65 with 3:24 left.

Reneau fouled. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Hatton checks in for Reneau.

Hatton gets a huge defensive rebound. He gets fouled on the rebound and goes 2-2 at the line. Indiana back up 4.

Hoosiers force a turnover.

Reneau rolls to the basket and Rice finds him. Reneau scores through contact and gets and And1 chance. He hits the free throw. Hoosiers up 75-68 with 2:00 left.

Rice missed three and Leal soars for the put back.
