Indiana basketball returns to the floor for their third game of the season as they host one of their top non-conference opponents this season, South Carolina. The Hoosiers are currently 2-0 on the season with convincing wins over SIUE and Eastern Illinois.

The Gamecocks enter the contest with a record of 2-1 behind 21.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game from sophomore forward Collin Murray-Boyles. Senior guard Jacobi Wright adds 16.0 points per game on 46.7% shooting from the 3-point line, while senior guard Jamarii Thomas averages 10.7 points and 3.3 assists.

Tip is set for 3:00 PM ET. The game will air on Peacock.

First half:

Indiana basketball wins the tip and we are off.

Malik Reneau misses a bunny. Rebound Gamecocks. SC gets in the board first.

SC takes an early 4-0 lead.

Carlyle misses a three. Hoosiers 0-4 from the field.

Defensive rebound and Myles Rice pushes the pace to find Mgbako for the transition dunk. Mgbako would pick up his first foul right after.

Myles Rice hits a corner three. Mgbako follows it up with another bucket. Hoosiers 7-0.

Turnover SC leads to first media timeout.

Indiana leads 7-4 at the 15:58 mark. 

Former Indiana basketball big men Kel’el Ware and Thomas Bryant are in attendance here at Assembly Hall. Heat players Tyler Hero and Duncan Robinson also in attendance.

Kanaan Carlyle knocks down at jumper out of the break. SC gets gets for an offensive foul.

Mgbako knocks down a three.

Carly picks up his first foul.

Indiana leads 14-4.

Rice knocks down a three but SC answers.

Galloway, Tucker, Goode in for Carlyle, Rice, and Reneau. Reneau takes a quick breather and is right back in for Ballo.

Mgbako gets fouled in transition on a dunk attempt. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Bryson Tucker picks up his first foul.

Under-12 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 18, SC 11

South Carolina knocks down three out of the break.

Myles Rice has been a dawg on defense today. Easily his best game as a Hoosiers thus far.

Bryson Tucker hits a tough jumper. Hoosiers are just 1 of their last 7 shot attempts.

Under-8 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 22, South Carolina 17

Indiana going back with the starters out of the media timeout. Malik Reneau has played some high minutes thus far.

Both Rice and Mgbako get fouled and each go 2-of-2 at the line in back-to-back offensive possessions.

Carlyle hits a corner three. Indiana basketball 4-of-6 from three so far.

Rice finds Carlyle for high-flying transition slam.

Hoosiers on a 6-0 run and have extended the lead to 35-24. 3:35 left to go in the half.

Ballo gets fouled out of the break. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Rice hits a jumper and then Ballo gets a block. Mike Woodson calls timeout with 55.7 left in the half. Hoosiers up 40-30.

Myles knocks down another three.

South Carolina would get a quick layup before the half ends.

At the half: Indiana basketball 43, South Carolina 32

Second half:

Indiana with the ball out if the break.

Malik Reneau with a smooth three to start us off in the second half.

Reneau would miss a three next time but would force a SC turnover to make up for it.

Kanaan Carlyle missed a ‘oop attempt to Mackenzie Mgbako so bad it went in. Wow.

Media timeout at the 16:44 mark. Hoosiers up 49-35.

Ballo fouled out of the break. He goes 0-2 at the line.

Tucker checks in for Mgbako. Reneau goes 2-2 at the line.

Goode and Galloway in for Carlyle and Reneau. Indiana basketball up 53-39.

Refs missed a lot of contact on Indiana’s end and Scout Carolina was able to get a transition bucket. Cut the lead down to 11.

Rice gets fouled and goes 2-2 at the line. He then gets a steal and him and Galloway go running with the senior guard getting the easy layup.

Reneau with a crafty drive and finishes with a foul on the contact. He has a free throw out of the timeout.

Indiana basketball leads 59-44 with 11:51 to go. 

Reneau misses the free throw out of the break.

Galloway with a smooth pass-fake and then nails a three. Hoosiers are 8-15 from behind the arc at this point.

Goode is 0-3 from three today.

Goode with a scary fall but looks to be ok. Maybe a little shaken up but staying in the game.

Mgbako with a baseline cut and Galloway find him for the bucket plus the free three. Mack nails the free throw.

Ballo checks in for Goode.

Gamecocks getting on little bit of a run. Cut the lead down to 12.

Reneau fouled. Goes 2-2 at the line.

Indiana basketball turnover (assist to the ref) and we head into the under-8 media timeout. 69-55 with 7:36 left.

Reneau picks up his fourth foul. Ballo checks in for him.

South Carolina cuts the lead to 10. Hoosiers getting a little lazy.

Ballo fouled. He missed the front end of a 1-and-1.

Double tech called on Kanaan Carlyle and South Carolina’s Jamarii Thomas. Refs reviewed further and other else came out of it.

Tucker in for Carlyle. Galloway got fouled off the ball and went 2-2 at the line. Indiana basketball back up 11.

Travel called on Tucker. Indiana’s 7th turnover.

Under-4 Media timeout: Indiana basketball 73, South Carolina 64

South Carolina hanging around. Indiana has not been able to really put the nail in the coffin in this one.

Mgbako got fouled on a defensive rebound and went 2-2 at the line.

Gamecocks looking to foul Ballo on purpose. Jokes on them because Ballo went 2-2 at the line.

SC calls timeout. Indiana basketball leads 79-68 with 1:58 left.

Jump ball. SC gets the ball back.

Goode checks back in. Hoosiers chewing up clock.

South Carolina has cut the lead down to 8.

Galloway fouled. He goes 2-2 at the line. Indiana’s lead back up to 10. 1:06 left.

Steal by Galloway and South Carolina fouls him. He goes hits both.

Rice fouled. He hits both free throws.
