Indiana basketball continues Big Ten Conference play in its 125th season of competition  at No. 10 Purdue at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 31, at Mackey Arena. The Hoosiers come into this game 5-5 in the Big Ten.

The Boilermakers enter the game with a record of 16-5 (8-2 Big Ten) under 20th-year head coach Matt Painter. Purdue is led by 15.4 points, 8.9 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game from junior guard Braden Smith. Junior forward Trey Kaufman-Renn has added a team-best 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per night.

Tipoff is set for 8:00 ET on FOX.

First half:

Indiana basketball wins the tip.

Ballo post up and finds a butting Mgbako for the say 2.

Braden Smith answered with a jumper.

Turnover Myles Rice results in a Smith layup.

Missed three by Mgbako. Smith went down and Rice got called for a foul. He missed two free throws.

Reneau misses a three.

Couple of offensive rebounds on missed jumper and Reenau gets a bucket.

Steal leads to Mgbako with the slam. Hoosiers up 6-5.

Purdue extends lead to 9-6.

Illegal screen on Reneau.

Under-16 Media Timeout: Purdue 9, Indiana 6

Goode in for Reneau.

Mgbako hits a baseline jumper. Purdue up 11-8.

Steal by Anthony Leal. Mgbako missed a floater but Goode offensive rebound and gets it back in.

Galloway in for Rice. Smith hits another jumper.

Mgbako three ties it at 13.

Ballo picks up his second foul. Hatton checks in.

Turnover by Purdue leads to another Mg bake score.

Goode three Hoosiers take the lead. Purdue hit a three and took the lead back.

Indiana basketball doing such a good job on the offensive glass. Another couple of them led to another Goode three.

Under-12 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 21, Purdue 20

Purdue forward Raleigh Burgess called for a technical foul. Goode hits the free throws.

Bryson Tucker checks in.

Anthony Leal gets fouled on a three point attempt. He goes 2-3.

Galloway floater. Hoosiers up three.

Under-8 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 27, Purdue 26

Indiana basketball up to 9 turnovers now. This is going to kill them if they don’t get it together quick.

Purdue now leads 29-28.

Leal gets a tough layup to tie it.

Defensive rebound by Leal leads to Goode finding Ballo for the layup and the lead.

Purdue’s Trey Kaufman-Renn picks up his 2nd foul of the game. He has been hugging Oumar Ballo all game.

Ballo layup extends Indiana lead to 4.

Timeout Purdue. Hoosiers came to play! 9-0 run Indiana and leads 36-29 after Goode’s third three.

Purdue’s bigs are struggling majorly guarding Ballo when he gets into his post-up. Furst got called for a foul. Ballo went 1-2 at the line.

Rice low pass and Ballo makes a tough catch. Hoosiers up 39-32.

Braden Smith is making so many tough shots.

Leal makes another play and Ballo scores.

Mike Woodson calls timeout. Indiana leads 41-35 with 31 seconds left in the half.

Furst missed a free throw but Purdue for an offensive rebound.

Shot clock issue.

At the half: Indiana basketball 41, Purdue 37

Second Half

Starters for Indiana remain the same. Purdue with the ball.

Ballo gets called for the foul and Kaufman-Renn scores and gets the bucket. He hits the free throw.

Reneau gets called for the illegal screen. He stays in and Purdue takes the lead.

Purdue now leads 44-41.

Reneau gets fouled. He goes 1-2 at the line.

Ballo picks up his third foul.

Goode in for Reneau.

Purdue has the lead at 48-42 and Mike Woodson calls timeout.

Strong drive by Mgbako to stop the Purdue run.

Trey Galloway hits a massive three to cut the Purdue lead to 3.

Mgbako picks up his 3rd foul. 15:23 to go. The defense has gotten do a better job of making sure Mgabko does not get switched onto Smith. Thats a nightmare matchup.

Purdue leads 50-47 with 15:23 left.

Braden Smith is just money at the midrange.

Galloway tough bucket responds.

Loyer hits a jumper.

Reneau in for Ballo.

Reneau called for a travel. Purdue leads 56-49.

Anthony Leal gets a bucket plus the foul. Another big play. He misses the free throw, however.

Reneau picks up his 4th foul. Ballo in for him.

Galloway hits another tough layup. Hoosiers have to find stops on defense now.

Turnover Purdue. They still lead 58-53. We go to break with 11:35 left. 

Mgbako missed drive but then Ballo scoops it up.

Smith drive but then Mgbako blocks it. Mgbako then hits a three. Ties it up at 58.

Mgbako crafty layup gives the Hoosiers the lead.

Kaufman-Renn picks up his 4th foul. Hoosiers have the momentum.

Mgbako scores again. Hoosiers up 4.

Ballo gets fouled. He misses both, however.

Mgbako misses a three but Ballo goes for the put back and gets fouled. We go to break.

Indiana basketball leads 62-58 with 7:36 left. 

Ballo goes 1-2 at the line. 12-0 run for Indiana basketball.

Loyer hits a big three for Purdue.

Ballo scores. Hoosiers back up 4.

Refs stop the game for checking to see if the ball hit the rim. Terrible whistle. Screwed Purdue out of an open three. Just bad all around.

Indiana basketball got very luck on that bad whistle. Purdue missed a three and Galloway scored on a. layup. Hoosiers up 6.

Purdue cuts it to just 2 now.

Tied at 67 now.

Leal gets called for a foul. We got to break tied at 67 but Harris has a chance to give Purdue the lead with 3:40 left. 

Purdue leads by 2 now.

Leal gets called for an offensive foul. Hoosiers collapsing.

Smith misses a jumper. Ballo rebound.

Mgbako hits three to take the lead. What a pass by Galloway!

Loyer gets the shot and Ballo fouls too. Purdue back up 2.

Strong drive by Mgbako. He gets fouled. He goes 2-2. We are tired again.

Anthony Leal has fouled out. Hate to see that. Rice in for him.

Refs reviewed after the play. Goode took a hard hit to the floor after tripping on Smith. Nothing was called.

Smith goes 2-2 and Purdue has the lead here.

Turnover by Ballo and Harris gets fouled again. He goes 1-2. Indiana down three.

Galloway scored. Hoosiers down 1.

Timeout Purdue. 75-74 Boilermakers with 1:13 left.

Indiana gets the defense rebound. Galloway gets the floater and Hoosiers have the lead. Timeout Purdue with 25 seconds left.

Kaufman-Renn gets a bucket to drop. Purdue takes the lead.

Rice can’t get the jumper to go. There was a bad no call. Purdue got the ball and foul. 3.3 seconds left.

Loyer hits both. Hoosiers down 3.

Galloway turns it over.
