Hoosier Illustrated Live Blog: Final – Indiana basketball 106, Marian 63

Indiana basketball wraps up their preseason matchups with one more exhibition game tonight as they host Marian. The Hoosiers are coming off a road win at Tennessee earlier this week.

Marian is coached by the son of legendary Indiana basketball head coach Bob Knight, Pat Knight.

Indiana is 31-0 in exhibition games versus non-Division I opponents since 2004-05.

Tip is set for 7 PM ET. The game will air on BTN+.

Pregame Notes:

Jakai Newton, Trey Galloway, and Bryson Tucker will be playing tonight.

Anthony Leal and Kanaan Carlyle are out tonight.

First half:

Indiana basketball wins the tip and we are off.

Ballo perimeter pass to Reneau for the easy layup gets us started here. Hoosiers follow that up with a steal and Mackenzie Mgbako corner three. Indiana basketball up 5-0.

Ballo gets his first points with a assist from Reneau.

Indiana basketball opens up on 9-2 run and Pat Knight calls a timeout at the 18:07 mark.

Ballo gets the defensive rebound, dribbles it up the floor and finds Renea for the easy slam.

Back-to-back turnovers for Indiana basketball.

Under-16 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 13, Marian 5

Bryson Tucker has checked in for Trey Galloway.

Tucker knocks down his first jumper of the season with a smooth mid-range. A few plays later he would knock down yet another one.

Gabe Cupps checks in for Myles Rice. Luke Goode checks in for Oumar Ballo.

Under-12 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 27, Marian 8

Jakai Newton has officially checked in. Langdon Hatton also checks in.

Marian guard Gus Etchison with back-to-back buckets. Gabe Cupps would halt the Knight’s momentum with a jumper plus the foul.

Newton scores his first basket for the Hoosiers. Love to see it.

Hatton finds Tucker for a long pass which results in a transition dunk. The second unit getting some really good run right now.

Mgbako and Rice check back in.

Refs took time to review something. Looks like it was just a common foul called on Marian forward Braden Walters.

Indiana basketball calls a timeout at the 5:05 mark. Hoosiers lead 38-22.

Tuckers nails another mid-ranger jumper.

Timeout at the 2:56 mark. Indiana leads 42-22.

Indiana basketball rolling out with the starting five to close out the half.

Luke Goode actually checks in for Rice.

Malik Reneau with a nice block on a Etchison three point attempt then brings the ball up the floor to find Mgbako for ‘oop.

Second Half:

Starters will start the second half.

Reneau finds Ballo for a easy layup right out of the gate.

Ballo with another bucket next play.

Trey Galloway hits Indiana’s second three of the game.

Malik Reneau has done a great job on the hustle plays tonight. Really high motor in some areas.

Luke Goode checks in for Trey Galloway.

Goode misses another open three. Really struggling.

Media timeout at the 15:52 mark. Indiana leads 63-30.

Mgbako knocks down a three however Goode follow it up with yet another miss from three. He has not hit a three point shot as of yet.

Indiana basketball leads 70-37 with 13:16 left. 

Ballo got called for an illegal screen. The bad part was Goode was in rythem from three an hit it.

Tucker with an impressive transition slam. He has been making plays all over tonight.

Langdon Hatton with back-to-back plays around the rim. Indiana doing a good job of moving the ball.

Marian freshman guard Noah Lovan called for a flagrant one foul. Pretty much tackled Bryson Tucker in transition.

Goode knocks down his first three. Gabe Cupps follows it up with a three of his own.

Under-8 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 93, Marian 48

Dallas James set to check in. First time seeing the big man in action for Indiana basketball.

Goode knocks down another three. He is going to be just fine.

Dallas James gets his first point in an Indiana uniform. Big dunk.

Indiana leads 100-53 with 3:29 left.
