According to Jeff Goodman of TheFieldOf68, Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens is not interested in being considered a candidate for the Indiana basketball head coaching job.

Stevens commented on the situation, expressing his satisfaction with his current position with the Boston Celtics front office.

“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with each day.”

Stevens, an Indiana native from Zionsville, coached collegiately at Butler, serving as an assistant coach from 2001-2007, then being promoted to head coach, a position he held from 2007-2013. Stevens compiled a 166-49 overall record as head coach of the Bulldogs, leading Butler to two Final Four appearances as a head coach.

In 2013, Stevens transitioned to the NBA, where he worked as the head coach of the Boston Celtics from 2013-2021, making playoff appearances in seven of his eight seasons.

Stevens totaled a 354-282 record as head coach of the Celtics before being named the president of basketball operations with the Celtics, guiding the Celtics to an NBA Championship in 2024, earning the NBA Executive of the Year award.

With Stevens now out of the candidate pool, Indiana will continue to search for potential hires as Mike Woodson nears the end of his head coaching tenure with the team.
