The Battle 4 Atlantis holiday tournament matchups have been announced and Indiana basketball now knows who they will face in the first round.

As it was announced per the official Twitter account of Battle 4 Atlantis, Indiana basketball will face Louisville in the opening round. Depending on the outcome of that game, the Hoosiers will face either West Virginia or Gonzaga the following day.

Indiana and border rival Louisville have squared off 21 times on the hardwood, including a 74-66 victory last season in the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden. IU holds the all-time series lead at 12-9 and the two squads have split six neutral site contests. The Hoosiers are 108-70 against teams currently competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The other side of the bracket is highlighted by Oklahoma vs Providence as well as Davidson vs Arizona.

The tournament is set to take place during Thanksgiving week (11/27-11/29), the 13th year of elite collegiate tournament play. The Battle for Atlantis is the highlight of the non-conference schedule for Indiana basketball this upcoming season.

“My staff and I put together a non-conference schedule that will lead to long-term success this season,” said head coach Mike Woodson. “We have a new team this year that we are excited to showcase in front of the sold-out crowds in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

“We will be tested by some veteran, well-coached ball clubs early in the season that will prepare us for a 20-game conference schedule,” We are looking forward to playing in one of the best in-season tournaments in our game in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The matchups, no matter how they fall, will create a great test for our team.”

This will be Indiana’s second trip to the Bahamas since Woodson took over. The Hoosiers went to Nassau as part of an international trip ahead of his first season. However, this will be the first time the Indiana basketball program has completed in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.
