As Indiana basketball continues to fill out its roster from the transfer portal, one potential name has emerged in former Kentucky wing Adou Thiero.
Thiero is not a new name to Indiana. He took a visit to Indiana during his senior season before ultimately picking Kentucky.
On Friday, Thiero named a top-5 list of Indiana basketball, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pitt and Arkansas according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Thiero is a versatile defender and high-motor athlete. He averaged 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.7 steals per game this past season at Kentucky. He shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 52.7 percent on 2s.
Thiero isn’t a three-point threat, taking just 22 3s on the season — and making seven.
Thiero has guard-like skills in a wing’s body. He grew five inches going into his senior year and is now listed at 6-foot-8. He ranked sixth in the SEC in block percentage last season and 13th in offensive rebound percentage.
He scored in double-figures in five games and had one double-double.
He appeared in 25 games with 19 starts, averaging 21.4 minutes per game. His per-40 minute average was: 13.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.
Some of his best games came against top competition. His double-double came against Kansas when he had 16 points and 13 rebounds. He had 15 points against Gonzaga, 14 points and eight rebounds against Auburn and 12 points against Alabama.
He averaged 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 9.5 minutes a game during his freshman season.
Thiero is a native of Pennsylvania, playing for Quaker Valley in high school.
Thiero has two years of remaining eligibility and is a projected first round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by numerous outlets.
