Indiana basketball has announced that redshirt freshman guard Jakai Newton had surgery on his lower body. It is expected to not be season ending, however.

Newton has appeared in three games this season and has averaged 2.0 points.

Fellow Indiana basketball guard Gabe Cupps also had surgery and is expected to miss the whole season. He is also expected to be reshirted.

Indiana redshirt freshman guard Jakai Newton underwent successful surgery to treat an injury to his lower body. He will be out indefinitely but is expected to return this season. This injury is not related to the one he had prior to the start of the 2023-24 season.
