Indiana basketball forward Payton Sparks has entered the transfer portal, according to national analyst Jeff Goodman.

Sparks played just one season with Indiana. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 24 games. He averaged 7.3 minutes a game.

Sparks scored in double-figures just once, with 10 points against Kennesaw State. He had seven points in 29 minutes against Wisconsin. Those two games were his only two starts of the season.

A Winchester, Indiana native, Payton Sparks spent his first two college years at Ball State. He averaged 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds in 62 career games with the Cardinals.

As a freshman, Sparks was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and scored the third most points as a freshman in Ball State program history. He averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game.

Sparks was receiving interest from programs such as Illinois, Florida, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Arkansas, Purdue, Virginia, Butler and others before he committed to Indiana basketball last summer.

Payton Sparks has one year of eligibility remaining.

He is the third player from Indiana basketball to enter the portal, including Kaleb Banks and CJ Gunn.
