Indiana basketball forward Anthony Walker avoided a major injury in Wednesday’s 70-58 win over Minnesota but there is still no timeline for a return.

On Friday, Indiana basketball head coach Mike Woodson said the MRI came back ‘pretty well’ on Walker’s knee, but his status will likely be a game-time decision against Michigan State on Sunday.

“Well, his MRI checked out pretty well,” Woodson said over zoom. “I don’t know the status of him being able to practice today (Friday). Yesterday he was pretty sore coming out of the MRI, so I’ll know more today when I get down on the practice floor to see where he is in terms of being able to play.”

Walker’s injury occurred at the 16:32 mark of the second half. He went up for a reverse layup and landed awkwardly on his right knee. During the replay, you could clearly see his knee buckle. Walker was unable to walk off on his own. Later in the second half, however, he was on the bench without any wrap or brace on it.

He finished with six points, one rebound and one assist in 14 minutes on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8 senior forward transferred to Indiana this offseason after four years at Miami (Fla.). He is averaging 5.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 29 games this season for the Hoosiers.

He has scored in double-figures four times this season.

Indiana basketball hosts the Spartans on Sunday for its senior day.
