While the Indiana basketball season is still a month away, Saturday will be a massive opportunity for Mike Woodson and his staff to showcase his roster in a massive setting.

For the third consecutive year, IU will be hosting a Pro Day — this time, with a ‘record number’ of NBA scouts expected to be in attendance, according to Adam Howard, Indiana’s Assistant Director of Recruiting and Operations.

Indiana heads into the 2024-25 season as one of the favorites to win the Big Ten — picked to finish second in the Big Ten on Wednesday.

It’s also the most talented roster Indiana has put on the floor in Mike Woodson’s time in Bloomington.

“It is. There’s no doubt it’s the best talent and best roster we’ve had,” Said Woodson on the College Hoops Today’ podcast with Jon Rothstein. “And that’s not taking anything away from the last three previous seasons. But we’re deeper than we have been in the past and that’s important. I think when you go through a grueling season, especially the Big Ten, I feel good now if somebody happens to trip a little bit and can’t play, there’s someone there to back him up and give him some support until he’s able to get back.”

Indiana basketball added players like All-Pac 12 performers Oumar Ballo and Myles Rice — who was also Pac-12 Freshman of the Year last year.

IU also brings in a potential 2025 draftee in sophomore guard Kanaan Carlyle from Stanford and five-star McDonald’s All-American Bryson Tucker. That is all in addition to returners such as former five-star forward Malik Reneau and former five-star wing and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Mackenzie Mgbako.

Mgbako and Carlyle have been projected as first-round picks by different outlets throughout the summer months.

Indiana is coming off of the 2024 NBA Draft in which Kel’el Ware No. 15 overall to the Miami Heat.

In 2023, Jalen Hood-Schifino was selected No. 17 overall to the Los Angeles Lakers, while Trayce Jackson-Davis was picked No. 57 overall by the Golden State Warriors.

Overall, the program has 80 total players selected in the NBA Draft.
