There could be a new name on the Indiana basketball recruiting radar for the 2024 class with Overtime Elite (Ga.) guard Daquan Davis.

Davis was committed to Providence but re-opened his recruitment this weekend. Now, according to national recruiting insider Joe Tipton, Indiana could be a ‘team to watch’ in his recruitment.

Davis is a four-star point guard ranked No. 119 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.  He committed to the Friars this summer over Maryland, Notre Dame and Mississippi State.

Davis averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game last season at St. John’s (DC). He was named the MaxPreps high school Player of the Year in Washington DC.

He is a 6-foot point guard who is best known for his energy and high motor. He was recently one of the standouts at the Overtime Elite Pro Day.

“Daquan Davis had a great day. He brought all the juice, competed at an intense level, encouraged his teammates and refused to let energy die down on his watch,” 247Sports National Recruiting Director Eric Bossi wrote. “He’s a tough lead guard who plays low to the ground, has burst and is just enough of a shot maker to keep defenders honest. Most of all, he looks like a real leader and the type of guy who will be very good in the Big East.”

He was also a standout at the NBPA Top 100 camp this summer. He averaged 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game across seven games.

Through six preseason games this season, Davis is averaging 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He’s shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 32 percent (8-of-25) from three.

Davis, originally from the Baltimore area, played for Team Thrill on the UAA circuit and was teammates of key 2024 Indiana basketball target Derik Queen. He also played on Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit, a program that Indiana assistant coach Kenya Hunter has strong ties to.

The Indiana basketball program has one commit in the 2024 class with five-star wing Liam McNeeley. After losing out on five-star point guard Boogie Fland — who committed to Kentucky — the Hoosiers could be aiming at making a move on Davis.

Indiana will lose sixth-year point guard Xavier Johnson after this season and has just one point guard on the roster with freshman four-star guard Gabe Cupps.
