Indiana baseball makes NCAA Tournament, regional location announced

After sitting firmly on the bubble and with much anticipation, Indiana baseball is officially in the NCAA Tournament.

On Monday, the Hoosiers found out they will be a part of the Knoxville Regional along with No. 1 overall seed Tennessee, Northern Kentucky, and Southern Miss. Indiana baseball will face Southern Miss in the opening round with Tennessee facing Northern Kentucky.

Indiana baseball finished the regular season with a record of 32-24-1. This is the third time that the Hoosiers have made the NCAA tournament under head coach Jeff Mercer.

When it comes to RPI, Indiana is ranked No. 55. Their opponent, Southern Miss, is ranked No. 26 and is coming off winning the Sun Belt Tournament. Indiana is coming off getting beat by Nebraska in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

Last year, Indiana baseball lost to Kentucky in regionals. The Hoosiers have not made it to Super Regionals since the 2013 season.

You can see Indiana baseball take on Southern Miss this Friday at 1:00 pm ET. The regional round is double-elimination.
