HoosierIllustrated Live Blog: FINAL – Notre Dame 27, Indiana football 17

No. 8 Indiana football makes its College Football Playoff debut on the road against No. 5 Notre Dame in the biggest game in program history.

The Fighting Irish enter this game 11-1 on the season and winners of their last 10 games.

Indiana has not played Notre Dame since 1991 with their last win against the Fighting Irish coming in 1950.

Indiana football enters the game with a program-best record of 11-1 and will look to advance to the Sugar Bowl against No. 2 Georgia.

Kick is set for 8:00 pm on ABC.

Pregame:

Temperatures are expected to be below freezing through out the game.

Injury Report:

Tyler Stephens will make his third start of the season at left guard in place of Drew Evans who suffered an injury against Michigan.

First Quarter:

Notre Dame won the toss. They will get is 2nd half.

Indiana football fair catch. Hoosiers get it on the IND25.

Justice Ellison stuffed. Loss of three yards.

Indiana football goes 3-and-out.

Indiana football struggling to get the run game going early here. Battle in the trenches is going to be huge this game and so far, edge going to Notre Dame.

Big catch by Elijah Sarratt however, Kurtis Rourke throws a pick in the end zone. Irish with the ball back.

Hoosiers drive but get stopped at the 50-yard line. Forced to punt. Irish with the ball back.

Indiana football finally forces a Notre Dame punt. Hoosiers get the ball at the IND36.

Indiana football getting some momentum. Big catch from Sarratt and they a PI called on Notre Dame.

After a timeout, Indiana football decides to kick the FG. They convert. Irish leads 14-3.

Third Quarter:

Indiana football forces a punt. Hoosiers with the ball on IND12.

Rourke takes a sack. 2-and-19 now.

Rourke takes another sack. Hoosiers have to punt out of the end zone.

James Carpenter gets flagged for a late hit out of bounds. Irish about to score.

FG made by Notre Dame. Irish up 20-3.

Nothing on offense from Indiana football. They punt again.

Fourth Quarter:

Notre Dame driving to start the quarter.

Indiana football blocks a FG and gets back a decent run.

Indiana chooses to punt. Just awful. 10:45 to go and you punt down 20-3. That is accepting defeat.

Irish score again. 27-3 Notre Dame. 4:50 to go.

Kurtis Rourke finds Myles Price for the first IU touchdown of the game. ND leads 27-11 after the two point conversion.

Elijah Sarratt recovers the ensuing onside kick and Indiana takes over at the 50.

Kurtis Rourke connects with Omar Cooper Jr. for. a 23 yard touchdown. Indiana trails 27-17.
