Indiana basketball continues its 124th season of competition with the finale of a three-game stretch against top-15 Big Ten Conference opponents at No. 10/11 Illinois.
The Illini (14-5, 5-3) enter the matchup with the third-best conference record and a mark of 10-2 at the State Farm Center.
Fifth-year senior guard Terrance Shannon Jr. leads the Illini with 20.5 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 made. He had posted .500/.370/.778 shooting splits in 13 games.
Illinois also receives double-digit scoring production from fifth-year senior guard Marcus Domask (15.1 points per game), senior forward Coleman Hawkins (12.0), and fifth-year senior forward Quincy Guerrier (11.8).
Tip is scheduled for 3:00 PM ET on FOX.

First Half:
Illinois wins the tip.
Indiana gets a stop on defense but Reneau turns the ball over on the Hoosiers first offensive sequence. Reneau does end up scoring the firs points of the game, however.
Trey Galloway bucket gets Indiana to 4-0 lead.
Indiana forces a shot clock violation. Indiana has been solid on defense along with Illinois being a little lackadaisical on offense.
Reneau gets fouled. but missed the little bunny for the And1. He would go 1-2 at the line.
Two straight buckets from Illinois cuts the Indiana lead to 5-4. Strong left-handed take from Xavier Johnson pushes the lead 7-4.
Under-16 Media Timeout: Indiana basketball 7, Illinois 6
Liking how aggressive Mackenzie Mgbako is being on the rebounds. He is up to three total at the 14:48 mark. Going to need him to continue to step up on the glass with Kel’el Ware not available.
Tough Xavier Johnson bucket through contact get him to the foul line. He misses the free throw, however.

9-0 run from Illinois extends the lead to 38-30. Indiana collapsing this half.
Big midrange jumper from Walker to halt the momentum a little.
Big shot from Xavier Johnson to close the half. He tossed the ball to Coleman Hawkins and Hawkins started to charge at Johnson before his Illinois teammates held him back. Both teams were chirping at one another heading into the tunnels.

Xavier Johnson has been whistled for a technical foul for throwing the ball at Coleman Hawkins following that layup at the end of the half. Illinois will get two shots and the ball out of the locker room. #iubb

That was easily a reputation reaction by the officials calling that tech on Xavier Johnson for "throwing" the ball at Hawkins. Did they completely ignore the fact that Coleman Hawkins charged at him afterwards? #iubb

Second Half:
Illinois with technical free throws to start the half. Illinois hit both. Illini leads 40-34 to start the half.
Magbko hits a tough bucket t cut the lead down.
Mgbako takes a jumper but get fouled. He heads to the line and makes both.
Mgbako gets called for his first foul. Illinois would miss both free throws which would lead to Anthony Walker would get the steal and be fouled in transition. He would go 1-2 but Mgbako would get the rebound and cut the lead to 42-41.
Hawkins fouls Reneau and that leads to the first media timeout of the second half. Illinois 42-41 with 15:32 left. Reneau gets two shots out of the break.
Reneau goes 2-2 at the line. Indiana leads again.
Strong baseline drive leads to Johnson scoring throughout contact with a chance at the line. He would miss the free throw.
Indiana extends the lead 47-42.
Indiana on a massive 15-2 run over the last 6:50 and forces Illinois to call a timeout. Hoosiers lead 49-42 with 12:33 left.
Cupps in for Johnson out of the break.
Illinois hit a three and Renau turned the ball over to lead into the next media timeout. Indiana basketball 49-45.
Illinois cuts the lead to 49-47.
Mike Woodson calls a timeout at the 10:07 mark.

Illinois answers with a 7-0 run and ties it up. Goode missed the free throw to tie it up and Galloway missed a three to take the lead back.
