For the first time this season, we will get a chance to watch this new-look No. 17 Indiana basketball squad take the floor against a different opponent other than themselves as they travel to Knoxville (TN) to face the No. 12 Tennessee Volunteers for a charity exhibition.

Indiana basketball is coming off of a 19-14 season last year when it failed to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Mike Woodson. The Volunteers finished the 2023-24 seasons with a 27-9 record and a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight. Tennessee lost six players from their regular rotation from a season ago, including first-round draft pick Dalton Knecht. Head coach Rick Barnes, a 38-year college basketball veteran, reloaded with the 14th-ranked transfer portal class according to 247Sports.

The game is set to take place at 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 27th on SEC+.

The Hoosiers doing a good job at speeding up the pace in this game. Yes it is sloppy but the pace is real fast.

Luke Goode checks in for Oumar Ballo. Small-ball lineup is in full force with Reneau, Mgbako, and Goode in the front court.

Myles Rice is such a game changer on the floor. The dynamic of Indiana’s offense has already changed a ton from last season.

Gabe Cupps checks in for Kanaan Carlyle.

Shot clock violation on Indiana basketball. Tennessee’s defense has been really good for the most part.

Anthony Leal checks in for Rice. Reneau also back in for Mgbako. Indiana back to their starting front court of Ballo and Reneau.

Indiana lead 16-11 at the 7:47 mark of the first half.

Anthony Leal got his feet crossed up on him a bit and was on the ground for a second. Looks to be ok, however.

Vols take the lead at the 6:30 mark, 17-16 Vols.

Mike Woodson calls a timeout at 5:63 mark. Tennessee took the lead and the momentum. Vols lead 19-16.

Indiana’s half court offense is really struggling. Have had some good looks from three that haven’t dropped, but all-around a very difficult time getting into any sort of rhythm. Tennessee’s ball pressure an issue, too.

Mackenzie Mgbako just got called for a technical foul. Kanaan Carlyle just got called for a technical now as well. Think it may be a delay of game, however. Carlyle got the ball after his made bucket.

I think what has gone a little overlooked in this game so far is Malik Reneau battling on the glass for rebounds. Up to 8 right now and showing such a willingness to go after the ball.

Strong defense stance from Indiana out of the break.

Myles Rice limping off the floor. Carlyle checked in for him.

Malik Reneau with a three and the Hoosiers take the lead back.

Luke Goode couldn’t get the ball inbounds and was forced to burn a timeout. Indiana basketball leads 57-54 with 4:27 left.

Myles Rice with a very tough bucket from a Ballo screen to halt the Tennessee momentum.

Reneau slams it over three Tennessee defenders. My goodness. Myles Rice continues to make winning plays — has been absolutely terrific all game long. Ices the game with a long pull up 2 and then a great drive and dish to Malik Reneau for the monster slam
