Former Indiana basketball guard Bracey Wright named to NBA G-League Santa Cruz Warriors coaching staff

The Golden State Warriors has added more Indiana basketball to their organization.

In a press release on Twitter, Former Indiana basketball guard Bracey Wright named to NBA G-League Santa Cruz Warriors coaching staff. His title is Assist Coach/Player Development.

Wright joins former Hoosier standouts Trayce Jackson-Davis (player) and Will Sheehey (player development analyst) as part of the Warriors organization.

Wright, a Colony, Texas native, attended The Colony High School high school teammate of future NBA guard Deron Williams. He was also a 2002 McDonald’s All American.

Wright played for Indiana basketball from 2002-2005 under then head coach Mike Davis. In his three seasons playing for Indiana, he averaged a career 17.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 85 appearances for the Hoosiers. He also started in all 85 games he appeared in and was named First-Team All-Big Ten in 2005.

In 2004, Wright was a member of the gold-medal winning USA World Championship for Young Men Qualifying Team at the FIBA Americas World Championships.

He scored 1,498 career points at Indiana and made 186 career three-pointers. As a junior, Wright led the Big Ten in scoring (18.3 points per game), while posting 25 or more points on seven occasions.

After three seasons with Indiana basketball, Wright was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 47 pick in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft. He would only play one season for the Timberwolves before playing the rest of his pro-career overseas where he played from 2007-2019.
