Former Indiana basketball forward Payton Sparks has officially announced his transfer destination, committing to Ball State on Sunday afternoon.

Sparks was the first Indiana basketball player to announce their intention to enter the transfer portal this offseason, doing so last week. He spent just one season with Indiana averaging 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.3 minutes per game. Sparks appeared in 24 games with two starts.

His season-high was 10 points against Kennesaw State.

Sparks spent his first two college seasons at Ball State. He averaged 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds in 62 career games with the Cardinals.

As a freshman, Sparks was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and scored the third most points as a freshman in Ball State program history. He averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game.

Sparks was receiving interest from programs such as Illinois, Florida, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Arkansas, Purdue, Virginia, Butler and others before he committed to Indiana basketball last summer.

Sparks has one year of eligibility remaining.
