Following a 3-0 start to the 2024 season, the IU football program has emerged in the AP Top 25 poll. While they are still on the outside looking in, the Hoosiers received 13 votes in the newest poll that was released on Sunday afternoon.
Indiana is essentially ranked 34th overall in the country.
IU is ninth in votes received.
Indiana is coming off of a 42-13 win over UCLA in its Big Ten opener on Saturday night.
The Hoosiers have outscored their opponents 150 to 23 to start the season. Through three weeks, Indiana is averaging 515 yards per game while giving up just 180.3. That’s good for 11th and third, respectively, in the nation.
“When you’re successful on the field, then you start to change the way the public, the state, the Big Ten and the country think about Indiana football,” Cignetti said on Saturday. “You start putting more people in the stands, selling out games. Then it’s hard to get tickets. That’s what we’re going to do.”
Indiana faces Charlotte at home in week four.
“I know it will get a lot of people’s attention,” Cignetti added. “And now we have to learn how to deal with success, which is a lot better than learning how to deal with failure.”
