IU football will have its starting quarterback under center when the Hoosiers travel to East Lansing this weekend to face the Michigan State Spartans, says head coach Curt Cignetti.
On Thursday’s radio show, Cignetti said that Kurtis Rourke ‘will start and play’ vs the Spartans. He added that his workload has increased each day of practice and is expected to be full-go with no restrictions.
Rourke had surgery on his right thumb a little over a week ago from an injury he sustained in Indiana’s matchup vs Nebraska. He missed last week’s game vs Washington.
Tayven Jackson had his first start of the season and finished 11-of-19 for 124 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added one touchdown on the ground as well.
Rourke has been one of the top quarterbacks in the country, throwing for 1,941 yards with 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He’s completing 74.6 percent of his pass attempts on the year.
He is a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week this season, in six full games played.
Indiana is 8-0 and No. 13 in the AP Poll.
Kick is set for 3:30 pm on Peacock.
