The Indiana basketball program needed to reload its backcourt after a very subpar 2023 season and things are trending nicely for the Hoosiers with multiple transfer portal guards.

A day after sources indicated that Indiana sat in a good spot with Washington State transfer guard Myles Rice, as well as a crystal ball came in for the talented guard, it appears Indiana is in a good spot for another transfer guard.

Early Friday morning, 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham submitted a crystal ball in favor of Indiana basketball to land Stanford transfer guard Kanaan Carlyle. The talented transfer guard will be on campus next weekend for a visit.

Carlyle is a former top-60 prospect who played just one season at Stanford. During his freshman season he averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 23 appearances. He missed the first month of the season but made an immediate impact when he returned to the floor. He scored in double-figures 15 times, including two 20-point games and one 31-point outing.

His career high was 31 points against Washington State. He also cored 28 points in his fourth game of the season against Arizona. He was 9-of-13 from three in those two games.

After shooting 44.7 percent on 2.1 made 3s per game in the first 10 games he played, his shot fell off. He shot just 20.8 percent from three on 4.1 attempts for the final 13 games of the season, totaling just 32 percent on the season.

Carlyle is a dynamic athlete and scorer, however. He has good size at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds and does a terrific job getting to the rim. He shot 77.6 percent from the foul line while attempting 3.7 free throws per game.

Carlyle is originally from the Atlanta are and was a name that Indiana basketball briefly looked at during his high school recruiting process. He and Myers Rice have a previous relationship from their time in the Atlanta area. IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond is connected to both prospects as well.

Carlyle is ranked the No. 10 overall transfer in the 247Sports transfer rankings.

He has three years of eligibility remaining.
