On the day that some of the updates class of 2026 rankings came out, one of the fasting rising prospects was on campus visiting Indiana basketball as 5-star wing Anthony Thompson visited IU on Tuesday.

Thompson is a 6-foot-7 wing from Lebanon (Oh.) and plays for the Indiana Elite AAU program on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.

Thompson is a lefty wing who was excellent this spring for Indiana Elite. He averaged 16.3 points per game and was second in the 16U division in points per possession with 1.18.

“Thompson drew high praise last month to kick off the Adidas 3SSB series and for great reason,” 247Sports national reporter Brandon Jenkins wrote last month. “A 6-foot-7 forward out of Lebanon (Ohio) High, Thompson is a long-armed lefty who shoots an extremely soft ball from deep. He showed great touch from long range this weekend. He additionally has tremendous instincts and possesses a world of talent to go along with a high ceiling. Thompson should be expected to make a lofty debut in next month’s national 2026 player ranking update.”

That debut ranking was lofty as Thompson jumped to No. 11 overall in the 247Sports rankings and No. 22 overall in the composite rankings — good enough for five-star status.

Thompson will be transferring from Lebanon High to Western Reserve Academy this upcoming season. He averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals as a sophomore last season. He shot 50.5 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent (36-of-110) from three and 76.2 percent (48-of-63) from the foul line in 24 games.

This was Thompson’s second visit to Indiana — visiting earlier in the basketball season as well.

“It was a very nice visit and the coaching staff treated my family and me very well,” Thompson told HoosierIllustrated.com. “The coaches like my versatility on both sides of the floor. They think that I could be a great addition to the IU program.

“They (Indiana) have a great history and very bright future.”

Thompson has numerous offers, including from Illinois, Iowa, Cincinnati, Marquette, Ohio State, Texas, Wake Forest, Stanford, West Virginia, Xavier and others.
