Two days after suffering a season-ending loss to Notre Dame, the Indiana football received a big boost for the 2025 season as All-American linebacker Aiden Fisher announced he would be back for the 2025 season on social media.

Fisher, who is eligible for the NFL Draft, has decided to return to Indiana football for his final season of eligibility. He hinted at his return after Friday’s loss to Notre Dame but confirmed it on X/Twitter today.

“You look at the track that Indiana football is on previously before we got here. Then you look now, it’s kind of a full 180. I think we’ve laid a foundation of what Indiana football can be and what it is now, and I expect to be right back here next year,” Fisher said after the game.

The third-year linebacker has been a staple of Bryant Haines’ defense and has been given the title of the ‘quarterback’ of the defense by Haines and Curt Cignetti.

Fisher led Haines’ defense in tackles in 2023 with James Madison and had a similar performance in 2024.

He led the Hoosiers in tackles with 118 on the season including 6.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and four pass breakups.

Fisher played a massive role on Indiana’s defense and was key against the run. As a team the Hoosiers allowed just 80.2 rushing yards per game on the season.

His play led to him being named a first-team All-American by the Football Writer’s Association of America. He was also named first-team All-Big Ten by both media and coaches.

Fisher’s return gives some stability to a linebacker room that will be missing senior Jailin Walker next year.

His return cements him as one of the best-returning linebackers in both the Big Ten conference and the nation.
