The Indiana basketball program did not earn an at-large bid in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

HoosierIllustrated.com has confirmed IU will not accept a bid to The NIT or The Crown if it were to be extended.

Indiana has now missed two-straight NCAA Tournament appearances after making two in a row to start Mike Woodson’s tenure. The Hoosiers were the second team out of the field, behind West Virginia. North Carolina was the last team in the field. Texas, Xavier and San Diego State were the last teams in the field, now playing in the First Four in Dayton.

“Indiana is the one (team left out) that sticks out to me,” College basketball analyst Seth Davis said on the CBS broadcast.  “They had a win at Michigan State, at home against Purdue. 4-13 in Quad 1, more than North Carolina, and unlike North Carolina, who had a Quad 3 loss at home to Stanford, Indiana did not have any losses outside of Quad 1.”

The Hoosiers (19-13; 10-10) were among the more discussed bubble teams over the last week following a loss to Oregon in their first game of the Big Ten Tournament. IU had a stretch in the middle of January that yielded losses in eight of 10 games that all but sealed IU’s fate for postseason play. However, a surge at the end of the year saw Indiana as winners in four of five games to end the regular season.

Despite the 13 losses, Indiana has six by single digits and four by just two possessions or less.

Indiana had a 4-13 record against Quad 1 opponents, but were perfect among Quad 2-4 matchups.

“I know the scores and the losses don’t really reflect that much in the NET,” IU senior wing Luke Goode said in the locker room after the Oregon loss. “But you look those games that we lost, the five in a row, those were one-two possessions game. But you think about Maryland, game-winning three. Purdue, game-wining floater on the road. Then you look at who we beat, we beat good teams. Michigan State. Purdue at home. We beat some really good teams. I don’t know what the history is with teams not making the tournament without a Quad 2-4 loss, I think that’s something people need to take into account and know we belong in the field and and can beat anybody.

“Winning five of the last seven games, our team is really coming together so if we do have the opportunity which I really hope we do, we can make some noise in March.”

Mike Woodson’s tenure as the Indiana basketball ends with an 82-53 record. He made it to the Round of 64 in 2022 after beating Wyoming in the First Four and then lost to Miami in the Round of 32 in 2023.
