The first College Football Playoff Ranking reveal took place on Tuesday night and it shed a light on what Indiana football needs to do in the remaining three games in order to keep its spot in the 12-team playoff.
Ranked 8th overall, but seeded 9th, Indiana would face Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Indiana, currently 9-0 and one of the most dominant teams in the country, has one thing working against it. What is it? It’s schedule — something it can’t control.
“Their strength of schedule is not as strong as BYU’s (seeded 8th),” Selection Committee Chair Warde Manuel said on ESPN. “But what Indiana has done on the field … they’re winning those games averaging 33 points per game more than their opponents.”
Indiana’s SOS is ranked 103rd while BYU, specifically, is 61. BYU is seeded one spot ahead of Indiana in the initial bracket.
“We think highly of Indiana,” Manuel said. “Again, dominant, dominant wins against the teams on their schedule. We recognize that and that they can only play who’s in front of them on their schedule.
So, what are some other reactions from some of college football’s national reporters?
