Indiana football gets commitment from transfer pass rusher Trey Laing

The Indiana football program added to its roster through the transfer portal with pass rusher Trey Laing. Laing committed to Indiana on Monday night.

Laing spent the past season with Southern University. He had 38 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five sacks and one forced fumble.

Laing was originally a three-star prospect in the 2019 class. He was rated as the No. 70 wide defensive end in the 247Sports composite rankings. Originally from Florida, Laing committed to South Florida out of high school. He chose the Bulls over programs like Cincinnati, Purdue, Iowa State, Syracuse and others.

After two years at South Florida, Laing transferred to East Mississippi Community College in the junior college ranks.

In 10 games at East Mississippi, Laing had 53 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Laing is 6-foot-3 and 224 pounds and brings experience and depth to the Indiana football roster. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Laing had offers from Indiana, Kent State, Eastern Michigan and others in the transfer portal.
