It’s gameday for Assembly Ball, the IU basketball alumni team in TBT. After years of waiting Indiana was able to pull together its first-ever TBT roster for 2024 and begin its tournament on Friday night.

Assembly Ball is a one-seed and will face the eight-seed ‘The Cru’ (Valparaiso Alumni) in the first round of the Butler Region. They play at 8:00 pm ET on Friday, July 19, on the Big Ten Network.

If Assembly Ball advances to the second round, they face the winner of Men of Mackey (Purdue Alumni) and Fort Wayne Champs at 8:00 pm ET on Sunday, July 21, on FS1.

The rest of the Butler region includes:

#2 seed All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni)

#3 seed Team Arkansas (Arkansas Alumni)

#4 seed Men of Mackey (Purdue Alumni)

#5 seed Fort Wayne Champs

#6 seed Eberlein Drive

#7 seed Fail Harder

The winner of the Butler Regional will play the winner of the Pittsburgh Regional in the quarterfinals on July 29 or 30.

Former IU basketball alum Christian Watford organized the Assembly Ball roster. It includes:

  • Miller Kopp (2021-23)
  • Race Thompson (2018-2023)
  • Devonte Green (2016-20)
  • Juwan Morgan (2015-19)
  • Noah Vonleh (2013-14)
  • Troy Williams (2013-16)
  • Yogi Ferrell (2012-16)
  • Jordan Hulls (2009-13)
  • Julian Gamble (Miami)
  • Rion Brown (Miami)
  • Kristian Doolittle (Oklahoma)
  • Keith Hornsby (UNC-Asheville, LSU)
  • Tyrell Terry (Stanford)
  • Dakota Quinn (Samford)

A few notable players on The Cru are Derrick Nix (Michigan State; 2009-13) and Eron Gordon (Seton Hall, Valpo; 2016-22).

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is the $1 million, winner-take-all tournament that began in 2014. Most teams are made up of former NCAA and NBA players and over the last few years, numerous teams have become true alumni teams from specific colleges.
