The full bracket and roster for the TBT and the IU basketball alumni team of Assembly Ball has been announced.
Assembly Ball is a one-seed and will face the eight-seed The Cru (Valparaiso Alumni) in the first round of the Butler Region. They play at 8:00 pm ET on Friday, July 19, on the Big Ten Network. If Assembly Ball advances to the second round, they face the winner of Men of Mackey (Purdue Alumni) and Fort Wayne Champs at 8:00 pm ET on Sunday, July 21, on FS1.
The IU basketball players that will be competing are Yogi Ferrell, Jordan Hulls, Miller Kopp, Devonte Green, Juwan Morgan and Troy Williams. Assembly Ball’s roster also includes Julian Gamble (Miami), Keith Hornsby (LSU), Kristian Doolittle (Oklahoma) and Rion Brown (Miami).
Former IU basketball forward Race Thompson is also listed on the roster but his status is unknown. He spent most of last year in Bloomington rehabbing from a leg injury he suffered the summer prior preparing to compete in the NBA Summer League.
The rest of the Butler region includes:
#2 seed All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni)
#3 seed Team Arkansas (Arkansas Alumni)
#4 seed Men of Mackey (Purdue Alumni)
#5 seed Fort Wayne Champs
#6 seed Eberlein Drive
#7 seed Fail Harder
The winner of the Butler Regional will play the winner of the Pittsburgh Regional in the quarterfinals on July 29 or 30.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is the $1 million, winner-take-all tournament that began in 2014. Most teams are made up of former NCAA and NBA players and over the last few years, numerous teams have become true alumni teams from specific colleges.
This is the first year that IU basketball will have an alumni roster.
