Despite Indiana football having a good amount of positive momentum on the recruiting trail, a second de-commitment hit its 2025 class on Sunday night. Top-600 player in the 2025 class Chris McCorkle III announced he would be re-opening his commitment.
McCorkle had committed to the Indiana football program on April 26.
The high-end three-star defensive back was coming off of an official visit to Big Ten rival Michigan State.
“I wanna thank Coach Cignetti, Coach Ojong & the whole staff at Indiana for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. Although I enjoyed every last bit of my commitment with the university and the staff members, I’ve had long talks with god, my family & my coaches. I will be de-committing from Indiana University,” McCorkle announced on social media. “Recruitment is open but I will be focusing more on myself, my growth and making sure my team and I are ready for this upcoming season.”
Shortly after he committed to Indiana, McCorkle set up a handful of additional visits, including Florida, Michigan State, Kansas and Missouri.
The Cardinal Mooney (Fla.) prospect played both sides of the ball last season. He totaled 13 receptions for 371 yards and seven touchdowns as a wide receiver. Defensively, he had 37 solo tackles, 15 pass breakups and nine interceptions.
Indiana football has 10 commitments in the current 2025 recruiting class.
