Former Indiana football co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Chad Wilt has found a new job and is staying in the Big Ten.
According to a report from 247sports Reporter Matt Zenitz, Wilt will be joining the Michigan State staff as a defensive assistant.
Wilt joined the Indiana football staff in January of 2022 and spent two years with the program. Indiana went 7-17 overall and 3-15 in the Big Ten from 2022-23.
Wilt coached Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Cam Jones and Phil Steele 2nd Team All-American linebacker Aaron Casey.
Prior to joining Indiana, Wilt was the defensive line coach for Minnesota from 2020-21. While he was there he coached with current Michigan State defensive coordinator Joe Rossi.
The connection with Rossi likely played a factor in Wilt joining the Michigan State coaching staff.
Wilt worked as a defensive line coach from 2009-2021, coaching at multiple power five schools, before moving to linebackers coach at Indiana. He began coaching after playing defensive end at Taylor University from 1996-1999.
Wilt is not the only member of the previous staff staying in the Big Ten, as former Indiana head coach Tom Allen has joined Penn State as their defensive coordinator.
