Indiana basketball officially got it’s season kicked off the last week starting the the 2023-24 campaign with two wins over both Florida Gold Coast and Army. With the season now underway, you will start to see multiple Indiana basketball recruiting targets make their way to campus to take visits and check out a game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

One of the more recent Indiana basketball targets to make their way to a game at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall was 2026, four-star in-state guard DeZhon Hall, who was in attendance for the Hoosiers’ close win vs. Army. This was Hall’s second visit to Indiana with him recently being in attendance for Hoosier Hysteria back in October.

Hall, who will now play for Pike High School after transferring in from Indianapolis Tindley, is one of the fastest-rising 2026 guards not only in the state, but across the country. At Pike, he will be coached by first-year head and former NBA All-Star, Jeff Teague, as the former pro guard returned to the state to coach his alma mater.

As a freshman at Indianapolis Tindley, Hall averaged 17.3  points per game. Hal also played for Indy Heat 15U as part of the Nike EYBL circuit where he helped lead them into a deep run at Peach Jam where he averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.

Hall, who is listed at 6-foot-3, is a super athletic ball player that is hard to stop once he gets going and is tremendous around the rim. The left-handed guard is explosive off of the dribble, gets to the rim at a high level, and is a dynamic playmaker on the perimeter. His dynamic ability allows him to create extremely well on the ball. The skills he has at such a young age is real impressive.

Along with Indiana, Hall has made recent visits to Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, and Purdue.

Hall spoke with HoosierIllustrated.com to break down what stood out with the Indiana basketball program, Mike Woodson, reaction to the visit, the usage of Xavier Johnson and Gabe Cupps, what he has learned from Jeff Teague, and more.

Below is the full Q&A with DeZhon Hall.

Q. Overall, how did the Indiana basketball visit go on Sunday?

DeZhon Hall: “The visit was great I’ve been on campus a few times now so I’m very familiar with the university, it’s a great place to be for sure!”

Q. What are some of the key takeaways come away with from Mike Woodson and Indiana’s system?

DeZhon Hall: “I love the way Xavier Johnson plays the PG spot, Coach Woodson lets him go! I could see myself playing that type of role in Indiana’s system for sure. I also like how he plays Gabe Cupps a lot of minutes, even though he’s only a freshman that shows he does not care how old you are if you’re ready you’re going to play.”

“But also I got a different perspective siting behind the bench.. Coach Woodson does not play he demands a lot and will pull you out fast if he feels like your not giving what he is looking for while you are on the floor.”

Q. Who from the Indiana basketball staff is kind of leading your Indiana recruitment right now?

DeZhon Hall: “I’d say Coach (Jordan) Hulls and Coach (Adam) Howard.”

Q. As far as other schools, who else has been in the most contact as of late. Do you have anymore upcoming visits scheduled?

DeZhon Hall: “Mainly the schools I have offers from have been in contact with me. Most recently received an offer from Texas A&M. I have a visit to Xavier coming up soon.”

(Hall has offers from Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, and IUPUI currently.)

Q. What has it been like having Jeff Teague be your coach at Pike? Anything you’ve learned from him already?

DeZhon Hall: “It’s great! Jeff (Teague) has been teaching me a lot of different things like how to read different defenses, how to make my teammates better, and how to make scoring a lot easier. Also a lot of good defensive principles that will make me more affective on the defensive end. Also his brother Marquis Teague who played in the NBA and went to Kentucky is on the coaching staff as well and I get a lot of knowledge from him also. We play one on one after practice sometimes.”
