The Indiana football program has landed another commitment in the 2025 class — this time from defensive back Seaonta Stewart.
Stewart, from Winton Woods (Oh.), picked Indiana over West Virginia and Purdue.
The 6-foot-2 and 185 pound Stewart had other offers from Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee and others.
Stewart is a high-end three-star recruit who is ranked No. 682 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is the 27 ranked player in Ohio.
“I feel like it was the right place for me,” Stewart told 247Sports National Analyst Allen Trieu. “I like what the new staff has in plan for the future.”
He played a few different positions in high school and was listed as an athlete because of his ability to play around the field. He had 10 tackles and five pass deflections last season.
“Stewart is a really good prospect who will come in looking like a college-ready prospect in terms of his build,” Trieu said. “When we heard he was being recruited by schools as a corner, that was a surprise based on his size, but he showed at the Under Armour All-America Camp that he could move like the smaller corners at the event and cover receivers man to man in a shorts and T-shirts setting. He has to show he has the long speed for cornerback in the Big Ten, but he moves well side to side, is physical and has ball skills.”
Indiana football continues success on the recruiting trail
Stewart brings the Indiana football 2025 class to 19 pledges and he instantly becomes the second-highest rated commit in the class.
After a strong June on the recruiting trial when Curt Cignetti and Indiana landed 12 commits, he becomes the first in July.
Stewart is the third cornerback in the class and fourth defensive back overall. Three of Indiana’s four highest commits in the class are defensive backs.
Indiana cornerbacks coach Rod Ojong was instrumental in landing Stewart.
The Indiana football class currently ranks No. 49 in the country.
