The Indiana football program has been one of the hottest teams on the field and the recruiting trial since Curt Cignetti was hired last December. But, could there be the first miscue on the horizon?

According to On3.com national analyst Steve Wiltfong, current IU pledge Byron Baldwin may be on the verge of flipping his commitment. On Sunday, Wiltfong logged a prediction for Baldwin to flip his pledge from IU to Colorado.

Baldwin committed to Indiana in April but was recently offered by the Buffs earlier this month. This past weekend he took a trip out west.

The four-star defensive back had 89 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles as a junior. Following a terrific junior campaign, Baldwin flew up the rankings. He was the 391st overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings in May, then he jumped all the way to 231st after the summer rankings refresh.

“Towson (Md.) Calvert Hall safety Byron Baldwin has plenty of fans behind the scenes at 247Sports and looked the part throughout his individual workout and 1-on-1 session on Sunday earning defensive back MVP honors from the UA Camp staff,” 247Sports analyst Hudson Standish wrote back in the summer. “Baldwin did not look out of place working at corner, which speaks to his versatility as a coverage defender considering the 6-foot-0.5 athlete primarily operates from depth at the prep level.

“The Indiana commit is a smooth mover who can effectively mirror opposing wide receivers with ease before quickly breaking on the ball. In the rare moments where Baldwin was beaten off the line of scrimmage, he quickly recovered showcasing ideal recovery speed before utilizing late hands to make plays on the ball. All in all, it was another impressive showing for Baldwin who earned Top Performer honors for the second consecutive year at the UA Baltimore camp.”

Time will tell whether or not Baldwin stays with the Hoosiers, but as of now it appears the top recruit in the 2025 class for Indiana football could be going elsewhere.
