Former Indiana basketball head coach Mike Davis will have a new home next season. According to Tiger Blueprint of the Full Ride Network, Davis will be joining the Memphis basketball staff for the 2024-25 season.

According to the report, Davis ‘will join the staff in a consultant role that it is expected to be a one-year position’.

Davis spent time with the Indiana basketball program as an assistant from 1997-2000 and then took over the Indiana program after Bob Knight. He was on the sidelines as IU’s head coach from 2000-06.

In his first season, Davis led Indiana to a 21-13 record. Davis then followed up a First Round exit in the NCAA Tournament in his first season with a trip to the National Championship game in 2002 with a 25-12 record. The following season, Davis went 21-13 and lost in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after being as high as No. 6 in the AP Poll that season.

Davis was let go at Indiana following the 2005-06 season. He went 115-79 in his career with the Indiana basketball program.

Following his time at Indiana, Davis went to UAB and collected a 122-73 record across six years. He made one NCAA Tournament appearance and was Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2011.

Davis then spent six years at Texas Southern, making the NCAA Tournament four times. He won the league four times and had a 115-89 overall record.

The recent head coaching stint for Davis was at Detroit Mercy where he coached his son for five seasons. Davis coached at Detroit from 2018-24, finishing above .500 just once. He was fired after a 1-31 record in 2023-24.
