Former Indiana Basketball player Kel’el Ware has received a green room invite to attend the 2024 NBA Draft with his family.

According to ESPN Insider Jonathan Givony Ware received one of the few green room invites as it is largely expected he will be selected in the first round of next week’s draft.

Coming out of high school as a highly touted freshman, it was expected that Ware would be selected in the first round of the 2023 Draft but a disappointing season with Oregon prevented that. Now two years removed from the lottery expectations, Ware has reestablished himself as a first-round pick after a strong season with Indiana.

Ware averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.5 assists, and shot 56.8 percent from the field on the season. His play earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team during his lone season with Indiana.

Early in the draft process Ware was projected firmly around the back end of the first round, but has impressed a lot of scouts during his workouts which have led to his late rise on draft boards.

“An impressive pro day of shooting has had teams buzzing about Kel’el Ware,” Bleacher Report NBA Draft insider Jonathan Wasserman wrote in his updated mock draft. “Sources say he’s generating realistic consideration in the late lottery. The narrative about his underwhelming motor has seemingly been squashed. Ware figures to look highly enticing in a workout setting that can showcase his athleticism at the rim, mobility, and high shotmaking skill level.”

Ware will be the third player drafted from Indiana basketball since Mike Woodson took over as head coach, joining Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

The 2024 NBA Draft will take place June 26-27.
