Thursday afternoon it was released that Tennessee tight end Holden Staes has committed to Indiana football per Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports.

Staes, a 6’4 248 pound tight end, has three years of collegiate experience under his belt, playing two seasons at Notre Dame and one season at Tennessee.

This past season for Tennessee, Staes brought in 15 receptions for 131 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Tennessee football describes Staes as a “dynamic tight end transfer with excellent pass catching ability and size.”

According to 247Sports, last season Staes was tabbed as the No. 1 tight end transfer in the portal and the No. 16 transfer overall for the 2023 cycle, before landing at Tennessee.

Prior to his lone season at Tennessee, Staes was recognized for his sophomore season at Notre Dame, where he found the end zone four times.

Across his three seasons of collegiate play, Staes has totaled 31 catches for 318 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

With Zach Horton out of eligibility for Indiana football, Staes will be expected to be of a huge use for Indiana’s tight end room, along with James Bomba and Riley Nowakowski.

Staes has one year of eligibility remaining.
