Indiana football has earned a big time commitment in the 2025 class as it flipped a Louisville pledge — official on Thursday morning.

2025 defensive lineman Tyrone Burrus Jr announced his flip to Indiana after multiple visits to Bloomington this fall. He had been committed to Louisville since June.

Burrus is rated was the No. 37 edge rusher in the 247Sports rankings and a top-500 composite player in the 2025 class. As a junior, Burrus had 34 tackles. 19 quarterback hurries, 16.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. So far this year, he has 42 tackles, nine tackles for loss and six sacks.

“(He) has an athletic background which includes running track is a good marker of his physical ability,” 247Sports national analyst Allen Trieu wrote this summer. “Shows quickness of the snap and agility. Changes directions and runs plays down. Disciplined and does a good job of maintaining contain responsibilities. Even with his current quickness, we still see room for him to add explosiveness and pure foot speed as he develops. At 225 pounds now, he will need to add weight while maintaining and adding to that speed. Projects as an EDGE but has the body type to add weight and potentially move around a little if needed.”

Burrus’ most recent trip to Indiana was last weekend for IU’s 20-15 win over Michigan.

“IU is on to something and proving that they mean business in the Big Ten,” Burrus told On3.com national analyst Steve Wiltfong. “I believe he’s just a great coach. He brought all his guys from the other college they were at and went to work.”

Burris becomes IU’s highest-rated commit in the 2025 class.

Indiana football is 10-0 on the season and firmly in the hunt to compete for a National Championship. The Hoosiers are the 7-seed in the College Football Playoff projections.
