Tom Allen and the Indiana football program have put together a strong summer on the recruiting trail, landing 14 of its 17-member 2024 class over the last month. While the recruiting ‘stars’ may be at a minimum, there are some expected sleepers in IU’s class.
One such prospect hails from in-state Carmel (Ind.) high school. Three-star defensive back Christian Peterson committed to Indiana the start of June, jumping on his only power five offer.
Other schools that were involved in his recruitment were Western Michigan, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, James Madison, Kent State, Toledo and others.

Despite the lack of big name programs involved, Indiana could be getting a steal with Peterson.
According to Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Clint Cosgrove, Peterson ‘has every tool to be a difference maker’ early on in his IU career.
“The Carmel (Ind.) standout receives rave reviews from his high school coaches and whether you have seen him in person – or on film – you can see exactly why his coaches are excited about his future on the field. Peterson can flat out cover, is fluid in the hips, has an incredible burst and plays a physical brand of football,” Cosgrove wrote.” He has also proven to be a weapon with the ball in his hands which projects well in the return game and also makes him dynamic enough to be used on offense if needed. As a 5.5 three-star, Peterson is likely underrated right now and he has every tool to be a difference maker early on in his career at Indiana.”
As a junior, Peterson posted 35 tackles, four pass break-ups and three interceptions.
Peterson is ranked as the No. 100 cornerback in the 2024 247Sports Composite Rankings.
