One of the top players around the entire country this spring is a key in-state target for the Indiana basketball program. Four-star guard Braylon Mullins of Greenfield-Central (Ind.) and Indiana Elite on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit has exploded and his recruitment has gone national following the first live session of the spring.
Mullins is averaging 20.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this spring for an undefeated Indiana Elite team. He is also shooting 55.8 percent from the floor (96-of-172) and 52.1 percent from three (50-of-96).
Following last weekend, Kansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Creighton and others extended an offer to the standout guard. While Indiana basketball has been heavily involved and extremely active in his recruitment for the past year, there is now ‘enormous pressure’ to land Mullins, says Rivals national analyst Rob Cassidy.
“Mullins has turned plenty of heads in the weeks leading into the live periodand is a sure bet to move up the rankings in the next update. Now, it seems Mike Woodson will find himself in a familiar spot, battling with a heavy-hitting blueblood for a national recruit,” Cassidy wrote. “Woodson hasn’t had a ton of success winning such battles thus far in his Indiana tenure, so there will likely be enormous pressure to keep Mullins, who lives less than 80 miles away from Indiana’s campus, in state.”
Cassidy isn’t the first analyst or scout across the country to give Mullins raving reviews.
Earlier this spring it was 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein who thinks Mullins has ‘a chance to be special’.
“It’s hard to say a player already ranked within the top 100 and with offers from the likes of Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and others could be a riser, but I walked away from Saturday morning’s game believing he was just scratching the surface,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote earlier this month. “The irony was he didn’t even have a good shooting day. But make no mistake about it, this guy can shoot. He’s also got toughness and some signs of feel. Give his body a while to catch-up and he’s going to be a real problem.

Mullins is using a springboard from his high school season into this spring and it’s helping him really emerge as a big-time prospect who is going to be rising up rankings. As a junior this season, he averaged 25.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and shot 43 percent from three (61-of-143).
Indiana is absolutely at the top of Mullins’ recruitment, but with his stock skyrocketing, Mike Woodson and the rest of the Indiana basketball staff need to do everything and more to make sure he stays in state.
Mullins is currently ranked No. 100 in the 247Sports composite rankings and the No. 6 player in Indiana. He’s the No. 88 player in the Rivals rankings.
