Indiana basketball suffered a brutal 94-69 loss to Illinois at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Tuesday night.

Nothing went right for Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers who trailed by double digits for most of the game and the entire second half.

The most dramatic moment of the game came in the final minutes when Luke Goode fouled Tomislav Ivisic. Ivisic got in Goode’s face which led to Myles Rice intervening and Oumar Ballo shoving Ivisic in the crowd. Ballo was ejected from the game as a result of the altercation.

Kasparas Jakucionis led a dominant first-half performance for Illinois with 19 points, four assists, and three rebounds en route to a 28-point lead. Jakucionis finished the game with 21 points, three rebounds, and five assists.

The 28-point deficit at the half was the largest halftime deficit at home in the last 25 seasons.

Indiana basketball struggled in all facets of the game, but rebounding was key for Illinois, which scored 17 second-chance points in the first half. The Fighting Illini outrebounded the Hoosiers 51-37 and had 16 offensive rebounds in the game.

Indiana basketball was led by Oumar Ballo who scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the loss.

In his first matchup against his former school and coach Luke Goode finished with 13 points on 5-9 from the field, and 1-4 from three in the loss.

Myles Rice also contributed for the Hoosiers, scoring 12 points on 4-10 from the field with three rebounds.

The Hoosiers got nothing from behind the arc, missing their first 13 three-point attempts of the game. As a team, Indiana shot just 4-18 from three, compared to Illinois, which shot 11-32 from distance.

Trey Galloway and Mackenzie Mgbako both struggled for Indiana basketball.

Galloway shot just 3-11 from the field on his way to 1o points. He also added five assists for the Hoosiers. Mgbako finished with four points and six rebounds while shooting 1-10 from the field.

The pair combined to shoot 2-10 from three in the loss.

The only positive for the Hoosiers was the return of Jakai Newton who made his first appearance since December 6th.

Indiana basketball will have a quick turnaround as they hope to move past this performance when they travel to Columbus to face Ohio State on Friday night.
