After over 10 years of waiting, Indiana basketball fans were finally able to see a Hoosier themed squad participate in the annual The Basketball Tournament. The Indiana fanbase was able to see former Indiana basketball standouts Yogi Ferrell, Juwan Morgan, Miller Kopp, and many other compete for Assembly Ball in this year’s TBT.

Assembly Ball, who competed in the Butler Regional of the TBT, made it to the sweet 16 stage of the tournament eventually falling to Eberlein Drive 82-79 in what was arguably one of the most thrilling games out of the entire multi-week event.

Although it was a heartbreaking end for Assembly Ball, for at least three games, Hoosier Nation got a chance to see some of their favorite Indiana basketball stars from year’s past wear the candy stripes once again and represent the program.

“It was awesome,” former Indiana basketball wing Miller Kopp said. “It was really cool to put on the (Indiana) colors again, even though it wasn’t exactly for the Hoosiers. It was still representing the brand, the school, the university and program. It was really cool and I’m very grateful I was able to do it and hope I can do it next year as well.”

“I wear that badge (Indiana basketball jersey) with honor knowing I’m representing Indiana and the fans hopefully appreciate that and I’m super grateful to be part of the family.”

The expectation that Indiana basketball will once again have a TBT squad thus Assembly Ball making and anticipated return. Players such as Yogi Ferrell, Troy Williams, Miller Kopp, and Jordan Hulls have teased that they would love to make a return to participate.

If Assembly Ball does return most of their stars — and maybe even add a couple other former Hoosiers — they are projected to be one of the favorites to win the entire 2025 TBT Tournament.

“We’re stronger as a university and alumni group together and connected,” Miller Kopp added. “With some of the other blue bloods, they have that and we do (now) as well and it’s about continuing to build that with tying in the different generations and eras knowing it’s going to make us stronger and the program better for years to come.”
