The NBA Summer League kicks off this 4th of July weekend and Indiana basketball will once again have a strong presence in all three leagues with multiple prospects from the program participating.

Hoosiers Nation will be able to catch three former members of the Indiana basketball program across three different NBA Summer Leagues with players such as Trayce Jackson-Davis, Kel’el Ware, and Romeo Langford all on a roster.

Jackson-Davis and Ware come from the Mike Woodson era of Indiana with Romeo Langford come from the first couple seasons of the Archie Miller era. Jackson-Davis (Warriors) and Ware (Heat) will be playing with the teams that drafted them while Langford will be running the 76ers summer league squad as he tries to get back into the NBA.

Player Preview: The former college basketball All-American and one of the greatest players to put on an Indiana basketball jersey is coming off a very strong rookie season with the Golden State Warriors. After being selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft at the No. 55 spot, Trayce Jackson-Davis was just shy of landing on a All-Rookie team but did average 7.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game appearing in 68 games and had 16 starts. He also 70.2 percent from the floor. Jackson-Davis also had six double-doubles. Overall, Jackson-Davis had 27 games in double-figures with a season-high 20 points coming against Houston in April. NBA Years Active: 2019-2022 (Celtics), 2022-2023 (Spurs)

Team: Philadelphia 76ers

Player Preview: Even though he has been out of the NBA for a little over a year now, the former Mr. Indiana Basketball is getting another shot of landing on a NBA roster playing for the Philadelphia 76ers Summer League team. Langford, who was the 14th overall pick in the 2019 draft by the Boston Celtics, last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season with the San Antonio Spurs. He had his best season of his NBA career with the Spurs averaging a career-best 6.9 points per game in 19.6 minutes a game including 21 starts. He spent last year with the Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate for the Utah Jazz, averaging 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He played just one season at Indiana basketball and was a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection after averaging 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

NBA Years Active: 2024-Present (Rookie)

Team: Miami Heat

Player Preview: The lone Indiana basketball player that was drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft is set to make his debut in a Miami Heat uniform this summer in the NBA Summer League. Ware was selected by the Heat at the No. 15 spot, just right outside the lottery, which made him the highest draft pick to come out of the Mike Woodson Indiana basketball era. Ware averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in 32.2 minutes per game at Indiana which led him to being on the All-Big Ten Second Team. The Heat needed to retool their front court for the future and bringing Ware in allows them to get younger, longer, protect the rim, and stretch the floor more. There will be a lot of eyes on Ware during the summer league as he has been one of the more controversial picks of this year’s draft class.
