Indiana basketball has officially started the process of recruiting the top prospect in the in-state 2027 class.

Announced on Tuesday night via his Twitter page, 2027 five-star wing Jaylan Mitchell received an offer from Indiana basketball. This offer comes after he took an unofficial visit to Indiana earlier this week.

Along with Indiana basketball, Mitchell currently holds offers from Illinois, Notre Dame, Missouri, Maryland, TCU, and others.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-8 wing out of Evansville Reitz High School (IN), is the top prospect in the in-state 2027 class. He also played up a class with Brad Beal Elite 16U on the Nike EYBL. He is coming off a freshman season with Reitz where he averaged a near double-double of 15.6 points 8.2 rebounds per game. He also added 3.9 assists and 2.2 steals a game as well. For Brad Beal Elite 16U, he averaged 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 29. assists, and 1.2 steals a game as well on his way to helping lead Brad Beal Elite to winning the Nike EYBL E16 Championship.

He also competed in the USA Minicamp a few weeks ago, as well.

His high school Evansville Reitz also produced former Indiana basketball guard Khristian Lander, as well.

Mitchell is a big wing for his age with an ability to play inside-out at an extremely high level. He scores at all three levels with smoothness and also uses his strength, size, and power to score through contact at a high rate. He was the only freshman in the state last season to be in the top 10 in points, rebounds, and assists. He is a true ‘do-it-all’ type of prospect that will only keep getting better and better as he matures.
