The Indiana basketball program is losing another member of its roster as Kanaan Carlyle is entering the transfer portal. On3’s Joe Tipton reported the news first.

Carlyle is the sixth member of the Hoosiers’ roster to leave the team after the coaching change. He joins Myles Rice, Malik Reneau, Mackenzie Mgbako, Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton in the portal.

Carlyle came to Indiana after one season at Stanford where he averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 assists and shot 32 percent from three. During the 2024-25 season with Indiana basketball, he struggled all season to find his role and rhythm. He appeared in 25 games and had six starts, averaging just 4.0 points on 28.9 percent shooting from the field.

The 6-foot-3 combo guard came to Bloomington known as a scorer but had just three games in double digits this year. He had 13 games with three or less points and was held scoreless eight times.

Carlyle was a former top-60 recruit and was ranked as the 15th overall transfer in the country last summer.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.
