The NBA offseason is about to hit its peak with free agency beginning as well as Summer League play starting. And, there will be a bit of Indiana basketball flare for one roster this summer.
The Golden State Warriors have turned into one of the most decorated programs in the last decade, winning four NBA Titles since 2014. They have also been to two additional NBA Finals in that span as well.
This summer starts an important season for Golden State as its championship window begins to shrink, however.
While former Indiana basketball standout Trayce Jackson-Davis will garner the most IU attention on the Warriors roster this summer, he won’t be the only former Indiana player on the court.
The Warriors announced their roster and coaching staff for the 2023 Summer League on Wednesday night and outside of Jackson-Davis, former Indiana basketball guard Will Sheehey was among the assistant coaches.
After a few stints in the then-NBA D-League, Sheehey joined the Warriors staff in 2021 as an Assistant Video Coordinator. Last season he was elevated into a Player Development Analyst position.
He was part of the Warriors staff that won the NBA Championship in 2021.
Sheehey, who spent four years at Indiana from 2010-2014, retired from professional basketball in 2020.
In his Indiana career, he played in 130 games averaging 8.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
The Warriors get their NBA Summer League started on July 3 on ESPN2 in the California Classic Summer League. They will also take part in the Vegas Summer League beginning July 7.
