Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti hasn’t been shy about sharing his opinion on a national stage. Whether it’s about himself or his program, he’s made sure to make it known what’s on his mind.

Following another week of controversial discussion regarding Indiana and its case for the College Football Playoff, after staying at No. 5 overall in the CFP rankings, Cignetti took some shots at the media that has showed consistent SEC Bias.

“Do your research,” Cignetti said on the Triple Option Podcast. “Google us, so you know something about us besides our name and what we’ve done in the past and what somebody else says about our schedule.”

The main debate about Indiana revolves around its strength of schedule — currently sitting at 106th in the country. Without a top-25 win or opponent on the record until Saturday’s matchup with No. 2 Ohio State, numerous media outlets push back on the narrative that IU’s spot is deserving over the likes of any of the SEC teams ranked in the top-15.

Cignetti’s response?

“These schedules are set years in advance,” He said. “I mean, Alabama played Mercer, Georgia played Chattanooga, Vanderbilt played Georgia State and lost. The schedule is what it is. The fact of the matter is, we’ve beaten seven P4 teams. Every single one of them had a winning record when we played them except two were at .500. One was 5-1 and one was 3-1. We also beat the defending national champ and runner-up.
