Sources have confirmed to HoosierIllustrated.com that Indiana basketball sophomore Gabe Cupps has entered the transfer portal.

Cupps entered the portal two days after it was announced the Hoosiers would not be participating in the NCAA Tournament.

With Mike Woodson not returning as head coach, Cupps is the first player to officially enter his name into the transfer portal and likely will not be the last one.

RELATED: Through excitement and disappointment, how will Mike Woodson’s time at IU basketball be remembered? Exactly that — a mixed bag and that’s okay.

Cupps appeared in 37 games under Woodson and started in 22 last season as a freshman due to injuries.

Last season Cupps averaged 2.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 21.6 minutes per game.

The numbers don’t tell the full story as Cupps was thrown into the fire last year and was productive for Indiana.

Cupps missed most of this season due to injury, only appearing in four games and 25 total minutes.

The former four-star recruit from Dayton, Ohio originally committed to Indiana basketball over Stanford, Michigan, Kansas State, and other schools.

With at least two years of eligibility remaining, Cupps will look to finish his collegiate career elsewhere.
