2023 top-10 prospect Mackenzie Mgbako is down to two programs, according to college basketball insider Andrew Slater.

Mgbako is down to Kansas and the Indiana basketball program.

He is expected to announce his decision on Friday night around 6:00 pm, per Mgbako’s Instagram.

Mgbako started his visits to St. John’s then visited Kansas followed up by Indiana last weekend. He had a visit to Louisville scheduled for this weekend, but it is now cancelled.

Multiple sources have indicated to HoosierIllustrated.com over the last week that Kansas ‘feels good’ where it currently sits. But, there is a lot of background chatter that is just that and nothing more.

Mgbako has kept his recruitment pretty tight lipped.

Mgbako was committed to Duke before re-opening his recruitment last month. The 6-foot-8 forward had originally picked Duke over programs like North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio State, Memphis, UConn, St. John’s and more.

At his size and overall skill, Mgbako is a terrific prospect. He is a shooting forward who has made 76 3s in the past two seasons at the high school level. He aveeraged 16.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a senior.

Mgbako was a McDonalds All-American this season.

“Mackenzie is a big-time addition to the Brotherhood,” Duke coach Jon Scheyer said of Mgbako when he signed. “He’s shown he’s one of the best players in the country with his size and ability to score at every level – shooting the three, creating off the bounce and in the post. I could tell early that he had a special feel for the game, an ability to score and rebound and make his teammates better. We felt from the first time we met him and his family that they belonged at Duke, and we’re excited to get started.”

The current 2023 Indiana basketball recruiting class consists of four-star guards Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton.

Mackenzie Mgbako is rated the No. 8 prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings.
