Marshall center Micah Handlogten is an intriguing prospect in the transfer portal and made a list cut on Tuesday. The Indiana basketball was one of eight programs included.

Handlogten’s list was made up of Indiana, Arkansas, NC State, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Missouri and Virginia.

The 7-foot-1 and 230-pound center averaged 7.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game this season. He started all 32 games as a freshman and averaged 25.3 minutes per game. He was the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year

Handlogten shot 66.2 percent from the floor (102-of-154).

His best asset is shot blocking and rebounding. Handlogten’s block rate was 9.1 percent, compared to 9.0 percent for Trayce Jackson-Davis. His rebound rate was 20.3 which was ranked 14th in the country. His offensive rebound rate was 14.3.

Handlogten had 14 games of 10+ rebounds and six games with 14+ rebounds. He had eight double-doubles.

He had at least one block in 30 of his 32 games played.

Up to this point in his portal recruitment, he has had a zoom call with Arkansas and has one scheduled with Auburn. He is expected to have an in-home visit with Georgia after the dead period ends later this week. His only official visit that is scheduled is to Florida over the weekend. Indiana remains very much involved.

“I just want to be in the best possible position to make it in the professional game,” Handlogten told Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports.com. “I have always wanted to be a professional and follow in my dad’s footsteps. I just want to be at a program that will give me that game experience, progress me as an all-around player, and develop me into the player that I have always wanted to be.”

Handlogten played for Southlake Christian Academy (NC). His dad, Ben, played college basketball at Western Michigan and in the NBA mainly for the Utah Jazz and the then-New Jersey Nets.

Micah Handlogten has three years of eligibility remaining.
